Call for Papers: The First Hungarian International Conference on the Fantastic

november 1, 2010

Another Call for Papers reached my Inbox today, this one for a conference on the fantastic at Pázmány Péter University, a few minutes by train from Budapest, Hungary. The dates are not quite set yet but will be latish in May, 2011.

The conference will be dedicated to the memory of Robert Holdstock, one of Britain’s finest fantasy writers and papers on his fiction are especially welcome. However, papers are invited on any topic relating to the Fantastic, such as Literature of the Fantastic, History of the Fantastic, Theory and the Fantastic, individual writers of the Fantastic.

Plenary Speakers will be Patrick Parrinder (University of Reading) and Donald E. Morse (University of Debrecen).

Direct all inquiries and/or send 100-150 word abstracts before 1 April 2011 to: IFC [at] yahoo.com. (The e-mail address seems a bit uncertain from the CfP I’ve got. Still, I thought it best to include it, and if there are any changes, I’ll post it here.)

Conferences on sf and fantasy seem to crop up more and more often outside the English language areas, something I welcome. I am severely tempted to attent this one myself.
